Welcome to the GenEpi Toolbox !
a
This webpage provides a concise collection of bioinformatic tools for the evaluation of genetic epidemiological studies.
These tools have been collected during several recent genetic epidemiological studies and have proven to be very useful to interpret the often surprising and unexpected findings of GWA studies. Since many of these tools may not be familiar to genetic epidemiologists who are not intensively involved in bioinformatics, we offer here a collection of bioinformatic tools addressing many different issues that a researcher in the field of genetic epidemiology may encounter. This should help to avoid not to see the wood for the trees and get lost in space.
Besides several types of “classic” tools for the analysis of the effects of single SNPs and mutations, we report also tools for the identification of known and unknown regulatory elements, data and literature, analysis of large genomic loci, tools for the annotation and selection of candidate SNPs, and, finally, several general databases.
In order to keep pace with the fast evolving of bioinformatics, we will report in our blog (“News“) new useful tools as they are published or come to our attention.
As a convenience for the user, the toolbox allows to get directly linked to the websites of the described tools.

This webpage is meant to be a collection made by users for users.
Therefore we strongly encourage other researcher to submit their favourite bioinformatic tools for evaluation of genetic polymorphisms as well as any other bioinformatic resource they feel would be worth to share with the community!
